Ahead of the release of the upcoming ECOCORE IV G( )D issue, a publication dedicated to ecology, SPAZIO RIDOTTO is proud to present the exhibition Stones of Venice. The exhibition, curated by Gloria Maria Cappelletti and Fabrizio Meris, is conceived as a sound and visual exploration into ecology in the digital age and will transform SPAZIO RIDOTTO into a mosaic of video content by filmmakers, artists, video game makers and architects. These works have been selected by architect and artist Alessandro Bava, Editor of ECOCORE, as a means of ecological expression through others’ artistic practice.
The exhibition Stones of Venice, titled after John Ruskin’s treatise on Venetian art and architecture, will include video works by V5MT with music by Music for Your Plants, Block-Hood, Joe Hamilton, FundMyTravel and Uncharted, all of which touch on the identity of ecology from an artistic standpoint. This parallels the publication of ECOCORE IV G( )D issue whose implementation is made possible the support of the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts in Chicago.
Regular Division by Joe Hamilton features scenes from a number of indoor gardens in Europe and Asia to depict an artificial paradise. The video also features high resolution images of classic landscape paintings bridging a connection to the traditional medium that played such an important role in the representation of landscape in the past.
Małgosia Woźnica (V5MT) will display the video work E X O L Λ B, depicting a space station laboratory in which aliens are experimenting with DNA, and creating new animal creatures. The video work fetures ‘UNESCO’ track by MFYP who produces “world music” of the future that often inhabits a post-ecological crisis universe.
Block-hood by architect Jose Sanchez is an online neighborhood-building simulation game that celebrates the diversity and experimentation of cities. The game forces players to think ecologically and understand how resources are finite and things in the world are interdependent.
FundMyTravel is an online crowd-funding platform for meaningful travel experiences. It supports cultural exchange and international education in environmental, developmental and socio economic goals through volunteering abroad.
Uncharted is an action-adventure video game series published by Sony Computer Entertainment for PlayStation consoles. The series follows modern-day treasure hunter and team as they travel around the world to uncover various historical mysteries.

About SPAZIO RIDOTTO
SPAZIO RIDOTTO, the new exhibition center in the heart of Venice managed by Zuecca Projects, is dedicated to facilitating interdisciplinary dialogue and artistic experimentation. It will seek to provide a platform for digital artistic projects, creating a connection between the physical exhibition space and the digital world.
The programme for SPAZIO RIDOTTO will change on a monthly basis and will aim to reflect the most current trends in contemporary society and culture. Like Zuecca Project Space, SPAZIO RIDOTTO was born from the necessity to have a place in Venice dedicated to promoting creative exchange both locally and internationally.
The first two exhibitions presented by SPAZIO RIDOTTO were by Margot Bowman, an emerging British artist who, through the new media and web art explores ecological topics, and by Jonas Mekas, the Lithuanian-American artist, founder of the New American Cinema in 1960 and the Anthology Film Archives in 1969.
